About filament.baby
The color-first 3D printing filament database. One place to browse, compare, and buy — without opening twenty tabs.
Why we built this
filament.baby started because finding the right filament color was unreasonably hard. Every brand has its own storefront, its own naming conventions, and its own way of showing (or not showing) what a spool actually looks like. We kept ending up with twenty browser tabs open, trying to figure out whether "Burnt Orange" from one brand matched "Rust" from another.
So we built a single catalog where you can browse filament by color first, then narrow down by material, brand, or price. The goal is simple: spend less time searching, more time printing.
How the data works
Our catalog is compiled from multiple sources, including community databases like filamentcolors.xyz and SpoolmanDB, manufacturer product feeds, and retailer catalogs.
Every listing goes through a normalization pipeline that standardizes names, deduplicates entries, maps colors to a consistent family system, and links to current product pages. When a manufacturer changes a product URL or discontinues a spool, our pipeline catches it on the next pass and updates the catalog.
The catalog is refreshed weekly from upstream feeds. Pricing data is pulled from retailer APIs and updated more frequently — typically every few days — though prices ultimately come from the retailer and may change between our last check and when you click through.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links on filament.baby are affiliate links, primarily through the Amazon Associates program. If you buy through one of those links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That revenue goes directly toward hosting, data pipeline costs, and keeping the catalog maintained. For full details, see our affiliate disclosure.
Affiliate relationships never influence catalog inclusion or how filaments are ranked. Every listing is added based on data availability, not business agreements.
Frequently asked questions
Are prices accurate?
Prices are fetched from retailer APIs and updated every few days. They reflect the last price we saw, but the actual price may have changed since our last check. Always confirm the final price on the retailer's page before purchasing.
How do I submit a missing filament?
Use our submission form. We review every submission and add it to the catalog if it meets our data quality standards.
Why can't I find a specific brand?
Our catalog depends on data availability from upstream sources and retailer feeds. If a brand isn't listed, it may not yet be in our data pipeline. Let us know and we'll look into adding it.
How often is the catalog updated?
The full catalog is refreshed weekly from manufacturer feeds and community databases. Pricing and availability data is updated every few days. Discontinued products are removed during each refresh cycle.
